About 60 km from Alicante is Calp, a pretty village at the foot of the Isthmus of Ifach Natural Park. Of the numerous beaches and coves that dot this stretch of coastline, Playa de la Fossa, also known as Playa de Levante (not to be confused with the more famous beach of the same name in Benidorm) is certainly the most beautiful.
This urban beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for the quality of its golden sands and azure waters and for the numerous services it offers, but what makes it unique is its position north of the isthmus, dominating the beach with its majesty.
Imagine lying in the sun on a hot summer day, lulled by the sound of the sea, and having a wonderful natural spectacle in front of you.
What are you missing to feel like paradise? Maybe a cold drink. Don’t worry, the bars in the area have everything you need to quench your thirst (and feed you)!
Playa de la Fossa in Calp is perfect for a pleasant day of sun and sea. It is quieter than Calp’s most famous beach, El Arenal-Boll, and thanks to its special location sheltered from the harbour, with the Isthmus of Ifnach to the south, its waters are particularly calm, with fewer boats around the beach.
You choose whether you want to spend a lazy day sunbathing or do some physical activity.
The services on the beach are excellent. These include: sunshade and deckchair hire, WC, foot washing facilities, pedalo and windsurfing board hire. It also has disabled access.
The beach is bordered by a pedestrian promenade lined with numerous shops, bars, restaurants and ice-cream parlours: you will have no trouble finding somewhere to stop for a meal or a drink!
On summer nights, this beautiful beach becomes a lovely setting for open-air film screenings.
Behind Playa de la Fossa are palaces and buildings, many of which are tourist residences and aparthotels. They are undoubtedly the best option for sleeping in Playa de la Fossa. Modern and equipped with all amenities, they will allow you to sleep facing the sea and wake up in the morning to beautiful views.
North of Playa de la Fossa is the village of La Calalga, also literally full of hotels, aparthotels and residences of all types and categories.
We offer a selection of hotels at Playa de la Fossa to suit all categories of travellers. The most booked by tourists are the sea-facing hotels, often right on the beach. If you want to play it safe, choose one of the following: they are among the most booked hotels in Playa de la Fossa, sorted by number of reviews.
If you prefer space, privacy and the ability to prepare your own meals to a hotel holiday, book a holiday home at Playa de la Fossa. We recommend a few below, but in this case we advise you to book early because houses and apartments for rent at Playa de la Fossa are in high demand.
The towns of Calp and Alicante are well connected by public transport: the Trenet de la Marina tram that runs along the coast from Alicante to Dénia stops at Calp and there are also direct buses to Calp from the centre and Alicante airport. The beach is within walking distance of public transport stops.
If you have rented a car calculate about one hour to reach Calp from Alicante.
Playa de la Fossa is located in Calp, on the Costa Blanca, within the province of Alicante and part of the Comunidad Valenciana region.
