Alicante’s nightlife is legendary, so much so that it attracts droves of international tourists who come here in search of movida.

It is widely believed that this city has some of the best clubs in Spain and it is not hard to believe this, given the quantity and variety of Alicante’s nightclubs: cocktail bars, pubs, beach kiosks, discos and disco bars where young travellers and others spend exciting nights of pure fun with music, drinks and spicy encounters.

The Alicante night starts late, not before eleven o’clock at night, and ends at dawn. You can enjoy yourself for long hours non-stop: let yourself be carried away by the Spanish movida, go from chirinquito to bar and end your crazy night by going wild in the disco.

Hey, you’re on holiday, why should you limit yourself? In Alicante there is no limit to the fun!

The fun zones

The main clubbing areas in Alicante are El Puerto and El Barrio. In El Puerto you’ll find a lively nightlife animated by locals and tourists, while El Barrio, the city’s historic centre, is popular with students and older people.

It was in the narrow alleyways of the Barrio that the legendary Alicante nightlife was born: today there are more than a hundred venues in the heart of the city, including historic bars and state-of-the-art live venues.

From the Barrio you reach the nerve centres of the city’s entertainment: Rambla, Portal de Elche, Plaza de Gabriel Miro and Calle San Francisco. The latter is a pedestrian street adorned with bizarre giant mushrooms that at a late hour become the ideal setting for fun photographs to show friends.

Near the central market is ‘Ruta de la Madera’, the street for rock and heavy metal lovers, with a high concentration of live music venues and roaring discos.

In summer, the epicentre of nightlife moves towards the sea. Esplanada and San Juan beach are the most popular areas, with bars, kiosks and parties on the promenade or directly on the beach.

If the clubs in Alicante are not enough for you, you can move on to the other resorts on the coast, first and foremost Benidorm.

Alicante’s discos, famous not only in Spain but throughout Europe, are the stars of the Alicante nightlife. It is here that party goers go wild until the morning, following the rhythms of an eclectic mix of musical genres capable of satisfying all tastes.
