Alicante Airport

Alicante-Elche Airport, also known as Alicante International Airport (IATA code: ALC), is your arrival point for the south-west coast of Spain.

With more than ten million passengers per year, Alicante Airport is the sixth largest airport in Spain: national and international tourists arrive here to get to the city of Alicante or travel by car in search of the most beautiful beach on the coast!

How to get to the centre of Alicante by public transport

Alicante Airport is actually located in the municipal district of Elche but is only 9 km from Alicante. The city centre can be easily reached by public transport or a hire car.

Urban buses

The C6 city bus line connects Alicante Airport with the city centre. It runs 365 days a year from 6.30 a.m. to 11 p.m. with services every 20 minutes.

The bus stops at the train station and other strategic points in the city, from which you can easily reach your hotel, b&b or flat.

To take the C6 bus from the arrivals terminal follow the ‘bus’ signs. Tickets can be purchased on the bus.

Intercity buses

Your destination is not Alicante but another town on the coast? A number of intercity bus lines depart from Alicante airport with destinations in Benidorm, Murcia, Calpe, Santa Pola (with intermediate stops in El Altet, Arenales del Sol y el Gran Alacant) and Torrevieja.

Again, the ticket can be purchased on the bus.

Train-tram

The Alicante tram, operated by the company Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana, is another convenient way to reach the resorts on the coast.

Several lines depart from the centre of Alicante, which you can reach with the C6 bus, getting off at the Alfonso X El Sabio or Plaza de los Luceros stops.

Taxi

If you don’t want to wait, have a lot of luggage or simply prefer to travel in comfort, a taxi is the best option for you. From Alicante airport you can take a taxi from the Radio Taxi Elche company, which also has an information office inside the passenger terminal.

The price of a ride to Alicante varies between 19 and 21 euros, while to Benidorm or Torrevieja you have to calculate at least 50-60 euros.

Private transfer

An alternative to TAXIs is to book in advance a private transfer to or from Alicante Airport airport. A driver will pick you up at the airport arrivals (thus avoiding taxi queues), at your hotel or wherever you prefer, to take you to the desired address.
