Slides, roller-coasters, catamarans, canoes, armadillos… fun takes countless forms in PortAventura World! With more than 3 million visitors each year, it is the largest amusement park in Spain and one of the top ten in Europe: the right place to spend a cheerful family day out during a holiday in Catalonia.
You won’t regret leaving the modernist charms of Barcelona or the sun-drenched beaches of the Costa Dorada for a day: for the price of a single ticket, you can explore six fascinating and very different worlds.
Winner of numerous quality awards, the Port Aventura park has more than 40 attractions for all ages, from those suitable for very young children to thrill rides for youngsters and daredevil adults, plus costume parades, fireworks, giant soap bubbles music and dancing, 4D shows and other shows throughout the day.
You can decide to visit the park in one day or stay longer, staying in one of the comfortable hotels inside. The only mandatory thing to do when crossing the threshold of Port Aventura is to turn off your brain and turn on your imagination.
A visit to Port Aventura is a kind of journey into the world of entertainment that will take you to places both geographically and historically distant. The attractions in each area draw on elements typical of that world’s geography or culture, while restaurants and bars serve themed menus with specialities typical of the area.
Here are the six thematic areas or ‘worlds’ into which the park is divided:
The transition from one world to another is no less exciting than the visit itself: you can embark at the port of Mediterrània and disembark in China or take a train and get off at an old Far West station, just to give two examples!
Port Aventura Park is one of the three theme parks that make up the Port Aventura World resort. If you want to extend the fun, you can also visit PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park and Ferrari Land.
PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park is an aquatic fun park with wave pools, slides, water obstacle courses and a play area for younger children. Ferrari Land is a theme park dedicated to fans of prestigious, high-speed cars.
There are several types of combined tickets, thanks to which it is possible to visit two parks at a very convenient price.
The Port Aventura and Ferrari Land parks are open from March to November plus the week of the Christmas holidays, while the Caribe Aquatic Park is only open during the summer months, from morning until evening.
Port Aventura entrance tickets can be purchased online or at the park ticket offices.
There are different types of tickets, with prices varying considerably depending on the formula chosen (one day, two days, one park, several parks…), starting from 48,00 euros for Port Aventura park entrance for an adult.
Some tourist city cards, such as the Barcelona Card, allow entry at a discounted price.
To avoid queues at ticket offices, we recommend you buy your entrance ticket online before arrival, especially if you are travelling in the summer months.
If you want to visit both attractions, take a combined ticket: you save considerably on the purchase of both tickets.
If you are based in Barcelona and don’t have your own transport such as a rental car, you can buy a ticket to Port Aventura with transfer included.
It is possible to visit Port Aventura on a day trip from Barcelona, but to enjoy the park’s attractions more leisurely consider arriving the night before and sleeping in the area.
There are several hotels within the Port Aventura World complex, all of them medium-high category. For something cheaper, look outside the park.
Sleeping in Salou allows you to combine fun at the park with a bit of relaxation by the sea. Be careful though, as it is a very popular tourist resort you should book well in advance if you are travelling in the summer months.
Another option is to sleep in Tarragona, an interesting city to visit that is only about fifteen kilometres from the park.
The Port Aventura park is located in Salou, a seaside resort on the Costa Dorada, about 120 km from Barcelona. The easiest way to get there by car is to take the AP-7 motorway southbound (towards Tarragona): calculate about one and a half hours.
Getting to Port Aventura by train is also quite convenient as the resort has its own train station, located along the R-16 line of the regional company Rodalies de Catalunya. It is possible to purchase a train ticket + entrance package, which saves money compared to buying the two tickets separately. The package is on sale at ticket offices and ticket machines in the stations served by Rodalies de Catalunya.
For those who do not come from Catalonia, the nearest station (reached by trains of the national company RENFE) is Camp de Tarragona, from where you can easily reach the park by bus or taxi.
Port Aventura is connected to all major resorts on the Costa Dorada by buses of the local company Plana.
If you do not want to rent a car but find public transport inconvenient, you can book an organised bus tour from Barcelona, choosing between one park or two.
