Landing at El Prat airport, the most convenient and comfortable way to get to the centre of Barcelona is undoubtedly the Aerobus. This is the official shuttle bus that connects the airport with the centre of Barcelona, to be precise with Placa Catalunya, by means of two lines called A1 and A2, which connect Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the airport with the city, respectively, every day of the year, 24 hours a day.
The journey on board the Aerobus lasts between 30 and 45 minutes, and is very comfortable thanks to amenities such as free wifi connection, USB charging for devices integrated in each seat, and the possibility of loading luggage into the luggage compartments. The Aerobus fleet consists of 27 hybrid and 6 fully electric buses, so by travelling on one of them you will also be helping to reduce pollution.
Choosing the right Aerobus line is easy, you just have to remember the terminal where the airline you are travelling with operates: when leaving the airport you will have no difficulty as there are no other options; when returning, of course, choose the right line according to the terminal from which your plane will depart. Both lines terminate in the city at Placa Catalunya, making some intermediate stops.
Departing from arrivals at Terminal 1, the Aerobus makes 3 intermediate stops: at Placa d’Espanya, along Gran Via at the junction with Borrell, at Placa Universitat and finally has its terminus at Placa de Catalunya.
On the return journey, also departing from Placa de Catalunya, the Aerobus A1 makes 3 intermediate stops: before ending its journey at Terminal 2 departures it also stops along Carrer Sepulveda, at Placa d’Espanya and at the third floor of Terminal 1.
Departing at arrivals at terminal 2B, the Aerobus makes four intermediate stops: at terminal 2C, at Placa d’Espanya, along Gran Via at the junction with Borrell, at Placa Universitat and finally has its terminus at Placa de Catalunya.
On the return journey, also departing from Placa de Catalunya, the Aerobus A2 makes two intermediate stops: before ending its journey at Terminal 2B it also stops along Carrer Sepulveda and at Placa d’Espanya.
It is convenient to buy your Aerobus ticket directly online before departure, so you don’t have to worry about arrival or waste unnecessary time. Buying online also allows you to have the best price guarantee and to be able to take your ticket with you at all times thanks to its digital form.
Physical sales outlets can still be found inside the airport: there are 24-hour totems for automatic sales at both terminals, but you can also buy them in Terminal 1 at the information office. There are also vending machines in Placa de Catalunya.
Once you have reached Placa Catalunya, if your hotel is not nearby, it is very easy to continue your journey to your final destination in the city, as 4 metro lines stop in the underground station of the square:
Also stopping at the underground station are the long-distance trains S1 to Terrassa and S2 to Sabadell and the Rodalies trains R1, R3, R4, R12 and RG1.
Keep in mind that there are also plenty of connections at Placa d’Espanya, including three metro lines:
To these, medium-distance FGC trains must be added:
