Barcelona Card Express

The Barcelona Card Express is a card designed especially for visitors coming to the city for a weekend or for a short period of time. It is valid for two days and allows discounted access to numerous attractions, free use of public transport, as well as discounts in over 100 bars, shops and restaurants scattered around the city.

The Barcelona Card Express is available for two consecutive days and is the reduced version of the Barcelona Card, which lasts for 3, 4 or 5 days and offers additional benefits, including free entry to 25 attractions with priority entry without waiting in lines.

What is included in the Barcelona Card Express

Using the Barcelona Card Express is very convenient if you plan to get around a lot by public transport and visit certain museums or attractions for a fee. Here are the main advantages of purchasing the card

• discounts on over 90 museums, activities, shops, bars and restaurants;
• free use of public transport within metro zone 1, on trams, buses, Catalan FGC trains and trains of the Spanish RENFE network;
• free use of bus 46 from El Prat Airport to the city centre and vice versa;
• barcelona city map with the location of discounted attractions and a map of the metro network.

Attractions discounted with the Barcelona Card Express

There are over 90 attractions with discounted entry included in the Barcelona Card Express, including:

• 48 museums and tourist attractions with discounts of up to 60%;
• 16 tours and visits with discounts of up to 50%;
• 12 activities with discounts of up to 50%;
• 7 entertainment experiences with discounts of up to 20%;
• 3 evening entertainment experiences with discounts of up to 30%;
• shops and restaurants with discounts of up to 20%.

Public transport

Holders of the Barcelona Card Express are entitled to free public transport, just as with the Barcelona Card or the Hola Barcelona Travel Card.

In particular, during the validity of the card you can board unlimited times on

• metro and buses operated by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB);
• round trip by metro from the airport to the centre of Barcelona;
• montjuïc funicular (but NOT the Montjuïc cable car);
• trams and Rodalies de Catalunya lines (zone 1);
• urban lines of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya network (FGC, zone 1).

What is NOT included in the Barcelona Card Express

Purchasing the Barcelona Card Express does not allow free travel on board the Aerobus, the direct bus that connects El Prat Airport with the city. However, you can still travel for free from the airport to the city centre and back, using the trains and metro included in the price of the card. Night buses are not included.

In addition, the Barcelona Card Express does not include a free ticket for the city’s tourist buses, nor for the Teleferico del Puerto, the characteristic red cable car that, starting from the port, flies over the Rambla de Mar to the base of Montjuic. A ticket for the Teleferica de Montjuïc is not included (but the Montjuïc Funicular is!)

Who should get the Barcelona Card Express

The Barcelona Card can be a great solution if you plan to use public transport and visit more than 3/4 of the city’s attractions, but if you plan to get around mostly on foot and/or don’t plan to enter museums and attractions that require an entrance fee, do the maths first, you may also find that the cheapest solution is to pay for the entrances individually, or buy an alternative city card.

How to buy and activate the Barcelona Card Express

You can purchase the Barcelona Card Express online by following this link or by filling out the form below, and you will receive a voucher to present when you arrive in Barcelona to obtain your card.

The Barcelona Card Express is activated as soon as it is used for the first time and will be valid from the time it is first used for a period of 48 hours. In order to take advantage of the discounts, the card must be shown to the shopkeeper, validated with the start date of use.

After your purchase, you can pick up the card at any tourist information office once you arrive in the city:

• Barcelona Airport, Terminal T1
  Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 20:30. Saturday and Sunday from 08:30 to 20:30.
• Barcelona Airport, Terminal T2
  Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 20:30 hours. Saturday from 08:30 to 20:00. Sunday from 09:00 to 15:00.
• Plaça de Catalunya main office
  Daily from 08:30 to 20:30.
• Plaça de Catalunya (information stand in front of El Corte Inglés department store)
  Monday to Saturday, 09:00 to 20:00. Sunday from 09:00 to 15:00.
• Plaça Espanya
  Daily: 8:30am to 2:30pm.
• Tourist Information Box at the Sagrada Família
  Daily: 8:30am to 8pm.
• Mirador de Colom, in Plaça Portal de la Pau.
  Daily: 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. Closed: 11/9, 1/1 and 25/12.
