The Barcelona Card is the official discount card of the city of Barcelona. It is available in 3 denominations, valid for 3, 4 or 5 days; it will allow you to save money on entrance to museums, skip the queue at the entrance to some of the city’s attractions and travel free and unlimited on Barcelona’s public transport .
In addition, the Barcelona Card includes round-trip transfer to Barcelona Airport by train and/or metro.
You can take advantage of more than 70 offers and discounts for all kinds of activities in the city, from museum visits to sightseeing tours, from shopping to nightlife… and more! With every card you also get a free city guide in 6 languages.
Buy it online at a discounted price: you can pick it up as soon as you arrive in the city at one of the tourist offices; the card is activated the first time you use it.
Warning! There are several tourist cards for visiting Barcelona, such as the Barcelona Card, Barcelona Go City and the Digital Pass. Each provides discounts and free entry, but if you are only interested in free public transport, the card for you is the Hola Barcelona Travel Card.
The Barcelona Card offers, among other things, free public transport, free priority entry to some of the city’s best museums, exclusive discounts on tours and attractions , and much more: you will get a 10% discount on many restaurants and a 12% discount on souvenirs from the Barcelona tourist offices in Placa Catalunya. You will also be given the Barcelona Shopping Card, with discounts in over 80 shops.
Finally, when you purchase the Barcelona Card, you will receive a street map of the city, a metro map, and a simple guide to Barcelona’s main attractions.
There are many free museums (such as the Picasso Museum, the Miró Foundation, the MACBA) and discounted ones (Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, the Poble Espanyol among others) with the purchase of the Barcelona Card. In addition, the purchase of the card provides priority access, skipping the queue at the entrance.
Visiting Barcelona with a guided tour is very easy thanks to the Barcelona Card: there are a number of discounts on bus tours, bike tours, walking tours, and tours of the surrounding area, so you really won’t miss anything of this fascinating metropolis.
These are the tours and activities discounted with the Barcelona Card:
To alternate between cultural visits and museums, there’s nothing better than having fun at the zoo, the aquarium or the casino. Here is the complete list of entertainment and attractions to visit at a discount with the Barcelona Card.
In the evening Barcelona is at its best. With the Barcelona Card you are entitled to a range of discounts on some of the city’s most exciting flamenco shows.
Barcelona Card holders are entitled to free public transport: metro, Transporte Metropolitano de Barcelona-TMB city buses, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya-FGC urban lines, and trams. In addition, the card is also valid for metro and train to and from Barcelona Airport and for Renfe cercanías zone 1 trains.
The Barcelona Card is very comprehensive, but does not include some important things. As far as transport is concerned, it should be noted that night buses are not included in the card and must therefore be paid for separately. It also does not include travel on the Aerobus, the bus connecting the airport, for which you only get a 20% discount.
The museums and attractions deserve a separate discussion: we have seen that the list is very long, but beware that it does not include either the Sagrada Familia or the Parc Guell, undoubtedly two of the city’s highlights. So consider whether or not it is worthwhile to get the card if you want to visit both.
The Barcelona Card is available in 3 versions: 72 hours (3 days), 96 hours (4 days) and 120 hours (5 days). Children from 4 to 12 years old can purchase the Barcelona Card Kids, which provides the same services as the adult card but at a lower price. Children under 4 do not need a Barcelona Card to travel for free on public transport or enter attractions with a discount.
| 72 hours | 96 hours | 120 hours | |
| Adults and children 12+ | 55 Eur | 65 Eur | 77 Eur |
| Children 4 – 12 years | 32 Eur | 42 Eur | 47 Eur |
The Barcelona Card can be a great solution if you plan to use public transport and visit more than 3/4 of the city’s attractions, but if you plan to get around mostly on foot and/or don’t plan to enter museums and attractions that require an entrance fee, do the math first. You may also find that the cheapest solution is to pay for the entrances individually, or buy an alternative city card.
You can buy the Barcelona Card online at questo link or by filling in the form below, and then collect it from any of Barcelona’s tourist offices.
The Barcelona Card is activated as soon as it is used for the first time and will be valid from the time it is first used for a period of 72, 96, or 120 hours, depending on the period chosen. In order to take advantage of the discounts, the card must be shown to the shopkeeper, validated with the start date of use.
After the purchase, you can pick up the card at any tourist information office once you arrive in the city:
Apart from the Barcelona Card there are other city cards that will allow you to save money on museums and attractions, or on transport; each one has different features, so if you don’t want to buy the official Barcelona Card choose the one that suits you best.
The Barcelona Go City Explorer Pass takes a different approach: the pass will allow you free entry to 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 of the city’s attractions from the list below.
(R) Advance booking required
It has a maximum duration of 60 days and is activated at the first entrance to a museum. It does not include transport, so it is useful if you plan to travel on foot and want to visit a few museums while having plenty of time, or in combination with the Hola Barcelona Travel Card.
Similar to the previous one, but in this case the duration is per day instead of per number of attractions. You can choose it in 2, 3, 4 or 5 days and it too does not include transport. The list of available attractions is the same as the Go City Explorer Pass.
Tiqets’ innovative Barcelona Pass card is actually a cumulative ticket: with just one pass, you can buy admission to the Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell and a choice of visiting Casa Batllo, Casa Milà or a hop on hop off bus tour. In addition, you will be able to download an app with a Barcelona travel guide and a 10% discount on tickets to other attractions on the Tiqets website.
The card is the only one that includes the ticket for the Sagrada Familia, but it is convenient if you only intend to visit the attractions included in the Pass and nothing else! It does not include transport.
