Sonar is known as THE electronic music festival in Barcelona, but this label is very reductive. It is a multidisciplinary arts festival in its own right, where the main components are music, creativity and technology.
Having become a worldwide reference point for established artists and new talents in music and audiovisual production, Sonar is experimentation, innovation, but also a lot of fun.
The three days of Sonar take place in a festive atmosphere, with concerts, DJ sets, exhibitions and artistic performances, to which Sonar+D, a multidisciplinary congress for technological and creative innovation held during the festival days, has been added in recent years.
Now reaching the milestone of its 25th edition (in 2018), the festival boasts impressive numbers: 10 stages, more than 120,000 spectators each year from over 100 countries around the world, more than 5000 professionals involved in Sonar+D activities.
If you want to be part of the international Sonar audience, buy your tickets as soon as possible, because every year they sell out!
There are two different types of tickets to enter Sonar:
Every year a very limited number of early bird tickets are put on sale at a discounted price, but they sell out very quickly.
Watch out for rip-offs!
We recommend buying Sonar tickets only on the official website or from authorised dealers. As it is a very famous international event and often sold out, it is common for fake tickets to be sold by unauthorised parties or for tickets to be resold by private individuals at a higher price (even double the real price).
The main Sonar venues (Sonar by Day and Sonar by Night) are located at different points, about 5 km apart.
To get from Sonar Day to Sonar Night you can take the Sonar Bus (line 1 from Sonar Day to Sonar Night, line 2 from Sonar by Night and Plaça de les Drassanes). This transfer service is charged for ordinary pass holders, while it is free for VIP pass holders.
Sonar by Day takes place at the Fira Montjuïc, on Avinguda Rius i Taulet in Barcelona.
The easiest way is to take the metro (L1 and L3) and get off at Espanya. The area is also served by numerous buses and FGC trains (Plaça Espanya station).
Sonar by Night takes place at the Fira Gran Via L’Hospitalet on Av. Joan Carles I in the municipality of Hospitalet de Llobregat.
To get to Sonar by Night, take metro line 9 south (Aeroport-Zone Universitària) and get off at the Fira station. Line L9s has stations in common with line L1 (stop: Torrassa), L3 (stop: Zona Universitària) and L5 (stop: Collblanc). On festival days, the opening hours of the L9s line are extended.
The Sonar by Night area is also served by numerous buses, both day and night, and FGC trains.
City Card allow you to save on public transport and / or on the entrances to the main tourist attractions.
