Fascinating and wonderful beaches await you on the island of La Palma. Expanses of black volcanic sand and natural saltwater pools will surprise you with their beauty!
A series of small rocky inlets, long sandy beaches and black rocky coves create incredible and unforgettable landscapes.
Among the most beautiful beaches in La Palma are El Charco Azul, El Charco Verde, Playa de la Zamora and Piscinas de la Fajana.
Also popular are the beaches of Puerto Naos, the busiest on the island, Los Guirres, and Los Cancajos, perfect for diving and snorkelling.
Located east of the island of La Palma, Los Cancajos is a bay protected by streams of volcanic rock that guarantee calm waters all year round and rich marine life.
For these reasons, Los Cancajos is perfect for diving, even for the inexperienced. There are toilets, showers and sunbeds and umbrellas for hire, there are good bus connections and access is guaranteed for those with limited mobility. There are also numerous restaurants nearby where you can enjoy delicious fresh fish dishes.
The island of La Palma hides many secret treasures including the wonderful natural pools of Charco Azul.
Located along the north-eastern coast of the island, between the village of San Andres and the small fishing village of Puerto Espindola, the pools are a true natural paradise where one can bathe safely in all seasons.
At 20 metres long and 10 metres wide, the pools of Charco Azul consist of three pools connected by stone walkways carved into the basalt, the smallest of which is known as Charco de las Damas, and include an area equipped with umbrellas, showers and toilets.
The promenade of El Melonar, where bars, cafés, restaurants and various services can be found, is located behind Charco Azul.
Easily accessible and suitable for children, the pools are among the main bathing areas in the northern part of La Palma and often crowded. A small car park serves the area.
Charco Verde beach is located along the west coast of La Palma near the town of Los Llanos de Aridane and about 2 km from Puerto Naos.
This bay of fine black volcanic sand, 250 metres long and 80 metres wide, is split in half by the Muellito, a large rock protruding into the sea and used as a diving board or base for fishermen.
Embraced by a wild natural environment, Charco Verde beach is equipped and has a bar with a terrace, a car park and disabled access.
The beautiful beach of Piscinas de la Fajana is located on the north-eastern tip of the island of La Palma, about halfway between the villages of Los Sauces and Barlovento.
La Fajana consists of three natural saltwater pools, one large, one medium and one small one ideal for children, surrounded by fascinating rocky ridges overlooking the sea.
The pools, interconnected by stone walkways, stem the power of the sea and make bathing safe, while a few metres away lashing waves attract surfing enthusiasts.
Not far from the pools of la Fajana are the equally fascinating pools of El Charco Azul. A few flats for rent and a couple of bars serve the area.
The small, wild bay of Playa de la Zamora is located on the southern tip of the island of La Palma, along the west coast, west of Fuencaliente.
Surrounded by steep cliffs, a stone staircase leads down to the sandy shore. The volcanic black sand beach is 150 metres long and 20 metres wide. Quite isolated and little frequented, Playa de la Zamora is very safe for bathing as it is quite sheltered from currents.
La Zamora beach, served by a small car park and a kiosk, is also ideal for scuba diving and snorkelling. Only 200 metres away is the beach of Playa Chica.
Nogales beach exemplifies what this beautiful island has to offer: mountains, trails, lava, ocean and green landscapes. Located in the northern town of Puntallana, its black volcanic sand and spectacular cliffs have earned it a well-deserved reputation over the years.
A popular beach for surfers but also for those seeking solitude, beautiful views and nature trails, Nogales is not the most family-friendly beach, as its waters are very often not calm.
