Fuerteventura offers many resorts and villages where one can spend one’s holidays. The most densely populated coastline is the south, as the beaches are more beautiful, the waters are calmer and, depending on the area, are suitable for families or water sports, practised by many tourists.
Choose a place that can meet your needs; consider the services and amenities you are looking for, be it restaurants, shops, hiking activities, proximity to the airport or the island’s main ports.
Then consider taking a rental car to move easily from one part of the island to another. In case you prefer to stay in one place, then choose the bigger centres, which can give you more opportunities for entertainment, so that you can fully enter into the spirit of Fuerteventura.
However, whichever resort you choose to stay in Fuerteventura, each of them offers both fully-equipped villages and flats for rent for those who like to live their holiday more independently. Price ranges are moderate, always considering the excellent value for money.
Corralejo
Corralejo is located at the northern end of the island. It is undoubtedly the best known tourist centre in Fuerteventura and here you will find everything you could wish for in terms of services and amenities.
If you are looking for a fun but also relaxing area, this is definitely the place for you. The advice is to rent a car to reach the resort, as it is about a forty-minute drive from the airport. Don’t miss the Corralejo Natural Park, famous for its desert dunes and beach of the same name. Daily ferries depart from Corralejo to neighbouring Lanzarote.
If you are travelling with children, there is no better place to stay in Fuerteventura than Caleta de Fuste. The area is only 10 km from the airport, there is an easily accessible beach with free parking and the water is calm, the ideal place for children to play while you relax in the sun.
The beach is fully equipped with umbrellas, deck chairs, toilets and showers. If you want to combine a bit of culture with your holiday, visit the nearby village of Betancuria. The little ones will also love the Oasis Park, a large zoo with many animals to admire and entertainment shows.

In the south of Fuerteventura, Morro Jable is the largest and most famous resort. It is a pretty and historical town, given its origin as an old fishing village. It is mostly frequented by German tourists, so there is no shortage of restaurants and bars dedicated to the tastes and traditions of these people.
The area is very popular due to the beauty of its namesake beach, which stretches for kilometres along the ocean. Choose Morro Jable if what you are looking for is a pure beach holiday. Don’t miss Cofete beach, a hidden jewel of the island, not far away.
Although it only has just over 10,000 inhabitants, Puerto Del Rosario is the capital of Fuerteventura. It is its main economic centre and is very well connected to the rest of the island. It is mainly chosen by families and those who don’t want to miss out on a bit of healthy, therapeutic shopping.
Many cruise ships dock in Puerto del Rosario and ferries to the other Canary Islands also depart from here. As for beaches, there are a few coves nearby, often frequented by the city’s workers. The advice though, if you are looking for postcard-perfect sea, is to move east or west, perhaps with a hire car.
