Fuerteventura Airport

Fuerteventura Airport (FUE) is located along the east coast, 5 kilometres south of Puerto del Rosario, the island’s capital, and only 10 minutes from Caleta de Fuste and 35 minutes from Corralejo.

With over 4.2 million passengers a year, the airport plays a fundamental role in the Canary Islands’ tourism development.

Functional and full of services, the Fuerteventura airport is served by 25 airlines, including Ryanair, Vueling, Iberia and many others, is spread over 3 levels and has 65 check-in desks and 24 departure gates.

Just outside the Fuerteventura airport terminal, there are no facilities where one can sleep. The closest are located about one kilometre to the south, in El Matorral, where small , no-frills flats await you, but great for being close to the airport in case of late evening arrival or early morning departure.

For a much wider choice of places to sleep close to Fuerteventura airport, head 3-4 kilometres south to Caleta de Fuste, one of the island’s main resorts, literally full of hotels to suit all budgets, or 3-4 kilometres north to the capital Puerto del Rosario, where accommodation is mostly flats and holiday homes, much cheaper than average.

Connections to and from the airport

Getting to Fuerteventura Airport is very easy, as it is located along the FV-2 road, which runs all along the east coast of the island, from the southern end of Morro Jable to Puerto del Rosario. If, on the other hand, you need to get to the airport from Corralejo, you will first have to take the FV-1 road heading south to Puerto del Rosario, bypass the town by the FV-3 ring road, then enter the FV-2 at Playa Blanca, where you will already begin to catch a glimpse of the airport.

As far as distances are concerned, from Corralejo it takes about half an hour by car for a distance to be covered of about 40 kilometres, from Puerto del Rosario it takes only 10 minutes, while to get there from the southern tip of Fuerteventura, and thus the areas of Morro Jable, Jandia or Costa Calma, it takes 45 to 60 minutes depending on your starting point.

Buses

The only public transport available to travel from Fuerteventura Airport is by bus:

• line 3 connects the airport with Puerto del Rosario and the tourist areas of Caleta de Fuste and Las Salinas;
• line 10 connects the capital with the tourist area of Morro Jable;
• line 16 connects the airport with Gran Tarajal.

Taxi

Taxis are parked outside the main terminal in front of the active area but we highly recommend hiring a car to be able to move around freely and visit the most interesting places that would be difficult to reach by public transport.
