Menorca Airport

Menorca Airport (IATA code: MAH) is also known as Mahon Airport and is considered an important airport in the Balearic Islands. The airport welcomes millions of passengers from several European countries every year, especially during the summer season.

Thanks to the flights of numerous low-cost airlines and charter flights, Menorca is connected to several cities not only in Spain but also in Italy, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

The airport is located just 4 km from the city centre of Mahon and boasts two passenger terminals. Although it is not very large, inside you can find shops, bars, restaurants, traveller services, car rental agencies and car parks.

Connections to and from the airport

From Minorca Airport, one can easily reach the city centre of Mahon. In fact, the airport is only 4 km from the city centre, which can be reached with a car journey of about 10-15 minutes. Binibeca is less than 15 km away, Ferreries 30 km and Ciutadella about 50 km.

Bus to Mahon

The airport is located very close to the city of Mahon so you can consider different ways to get to the centre. In fact, connections between the island’s airport and the capital are provided by several bus lines as well as numerous taxis.

In particular, line 10 of the Autocares Torres company connects the airport with the bus station in the centre of Mahon. Once you arrive at the Mahon bus station, you can take other lines and connections to reach the other towns on the island. The bus service operates daily in summer with a run every 30 minutes or so and the journey time is approximately 15 minutes. The bus stop is located on the ground floor of the main terminal just outside the Arrivals area.

• Departures from Mahon bus station to the airport: from 05:55 to 00:25
• Departures from Menorca Airport to Mahon Bus Station: 05:45 to 00:15

From 1 October to 30 May:

• Departures from Mahon bus station to the airport: 05:55 to 22:15
• Departures from Menorca Airport to Mahon bus station: 05:45 to 19:45

The cost of the ticket is €2.65 for adults and the ticket can be purchased directly on board.

Buses to other places on the island

If you want to travel from the airport to other towns on the island, remember that there are no direct bus lines. To reach other locations you must first reach the Mahon bus station and once there change and take the bus to your destination.

If the idea of travelling by public transport is not for you, perhaps because you have large suitcases or are travelling with children, you can consider taking a transfer. A private or shared transfer can be booked in advance from home and will take you to your final destination in peace.

Alternatively, you can always ask your hotel if it offers an airport shuttle service that provides connections between the hotel and the airport.

Taxi

It is possible to reach any location on the island by taking a convenient taxi. For Mahon, the distance to the airport is very short, so the expense is not high especially if you are travelling in several people. In general, from Mahon airport to the centre you can spend around €14.00 with the daytime rate and a little over €16.00 with the night rate. To reach Ciutadella, on the other hand, the cost is higher due to the greater distance and could be around 50-60 €.

Private transfer

An alternative to TAXIs is to book in advance a private transfer to or from Mahon airport. A driver will pick you up at the airport arrivals (thus avoiding taxi queues), at your hotel or wherever you prefer, to take you to the desired address.

Car hire

Alternatively, especially if you plan to visit other parts of the island of Menorca, you can consider renting a car and picking it up at one of the many rental agencies on the ground floor. From the airport you can take the Me-12 road to easily reach the centre of the capital.
