Climate in Majorca: best time to visit, weather by month, temperature

We all know Majorca as one of the main beach destinations for the summer season. Thanks to its location, Majorca enjoys a distinctly Mediterranean climate that makes it the perfect destination all year round, although summer is the season when the island is at its best. In summer, the long, hot days, beaches and numerous clubs make the island a truly desirable location. Winter in Majorca, on the other hand, is mild, especially in the towns along the coast, while temperatures drop near the mountain ranges.

Having said this, it is important to emphasise that the summer season in Majorca starts already around April-May and continues until October. Summers are hot and sunny, sometimes even a little muggy but alleviated by the presence of breezes. The rainiest months are autumn and winter, while as the heat arrives, rainfall decreases until it almost disappears in summer.

Visiting Majorca in summer is definitely the best choice if you want to fully experience all the possibilities the island has to offer, but you should beware of August, which is the most crowded period. In April, May, September and October, on the other hand, Majorca is not overrun with tourists, the fine days still allow for swimming and it is possible to experience the island without too much chaos. During these periods, however, it is not necessarily the case that all hotels, shops and clubs are open or working at full capacity, and many of the events that take place in July and August are not organised.

Winter is also a time to consider as the island enjoys pleasant temperatures that encourage many travellers to come here for an off-season visit. During these months, it is not possible to frequent the beaches, but it is possible to experience the island and its surroundings at a more leisurely pace as a local.
