Palma de Mallorca International Airport (IATA code: PMI) is also known as Aeroport de Son Sant Joan and is the main airport in the Balearic Islands. Palma Airport is connected, also thanks to the routes of numerous low-cost airlines and charter flights, to many Spanish, European and non-European cities. In particular, Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany are the countries that boast the most connections in summer.
The airport is located only 8 km from the city centre of Palma de Mallorca and is the third airport in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. Due to its numerous connections and its location, Palma Airport is very popular with travellers not only from Majorca, but also from the other islands of the archipelago. The airport underwent renovations in 2007 and now consists of a single terminal divided into blocks (A, B, C, D). For S’Arenal in summer, in addition to the AEROTIB A51 bus line, there is also the EMT A2 line. During the winter season when these lines are not operating, it is necessary to reach Palma’s main city bus terminal (known as the Intermodal Station) in Plaça d’Espanya with the EMT A1 line or by taxi. From there it is possible to take bus trains or the metro to your final destination.
The taxi service offers the most direct and comfortable solution, with a journey time of 15-20 minutes in normal traffic conditions. Taxis are available 24/7 at the dedicated area outside the arrival terminals. Fares are regulated and include an airport surcharge, with prices varying according to time of day and day of the week.
