San Antonio, or Sant Antoni de Portmany, lies along the north coast of the island and is the most famous resort in Ibiza after the town of Eivissa.
Famous for its nightlife and sunsets, San Antonio town is close to some of Ibiza’s most beautiful beaches. The seafront promenade, lapped by shallow crystal-clear waters, reaches the picturesque harbour and the wide sandy, palm-lined beach to the small Calo des Moro.
San Antonio’s seafront is the beating heart of Ibiza’s nightlife. It is home to the Gatecrasher Ibiza nightclubs, Es Paradis, Ocean Beach Club and the West End, where world-famous DJs perform, and has as its staple the Café del Mar, ideal for a drink as the sun goes down.
Much of the centre of San Antonio is a pedestrian area, with numerous bars, restaurants and shops of all kinds lining the inner streets, and close to the Paseo Maritimo is the bus station and taxi rank.
A truly unique experience is to take part in a boat party at sunset, ideal for club music lovers, or to embark on the small boats that reach the idyllic beaches of Cala Conta, Cala Bassa and Cala Tarida. Daily cruises also take you to the islands of Espalmador and Formentera.
2 kilometres from San Antonio, near Cala Gracio, is the aquarium dia es Cap Blanc and near Cala Salada, 5 kilometres away, is the cave of ses Fontanelles, famous for its cave paintings.
One of the most beautiful bays in the Mediterranean, San Antonio Bay is a deep inlet along Ibiza’s north-western coast. Dotted with magnificent beaches lapped by crystal-clear waters and criss-crossed by picturesque paths, the bay boasts a cosmopolitan and relaxed atmosphere.
For your accommodation, you can choose from luxurious hotels, villas with swimming pools, flats and fantastic resorts. The lively and atmospheric city of San Antonio is great for young people and families.
The bay’s nightlife is enlivened by trendy cafés with beautiful sunset terraces, popular discos, the 2 main clubs being Eden and Es Paradis, and excellent waterfront restaurants.
In the bay of San Antonio there are small sandy coves and beautiful beaches of Cala Conta, Cala Bassa, Es Pouet, Platja S’Estanyol, Playa Pinet, Playa Xinxo, Port des Torrent, S’Arenal, Cala Salada, Cala Vadella, Cala Gracio, Cala Tarida, Cala d’Hort, Cala Carbo and Cala Moli.
Miniature golf and paintball courses can be found in the bay, as well as diving, paragliding and sailing schools.
The resorts in the bay are only a 20-minute drive from the town of Eivissa.
San Antonio is located on the west coast of the island of Ibiza, about a 25-minute drive from Eivissa. If you have your own transport, getting there is very easy; just take the C-731 road out of Eivissa and follow it to your destination. If, on the other hand, you rely on public transport, know that San Antonio has a bus station where buses arrive and depart for every part of the island. To get to Eivissa you can take the L8 line, which runs from the south, the L3 line, which is the fastest and cuts from the centre of the island, or the L30 line, which runs from the north.
If you land at Ibiza Airport and want to go straight to San Antonio without passing through Eivissa, take one of the L8 or L9 lines and you’ll arrive at your destination in about 50 minutes.
On average, San Antonio is very lively and animated, at all hours of the day and night. Therefore, if you have come all this way in search of a night’s rest, look for accommodation outside the centre, or as far away from the harbour and the sea as possible. By the way, it will also be easier to find parking if you have rented a car.
Conversely, if you like a party atmosphere and have no particular need for a night’s sleep, head straight for the harbour, along Passeig de la Mar, where you will find accommodation to suit all budgets for a young clientele. Families usually move north to the area of Calò des Moro, where there are also some large hotels and numerous aparthotels.
We offer a selection of hotels at San Antonio to suit all categories of travellers. The most booked by tourists are the sea-facing hotels, often right on the beach.
