Things to do in Es Canar

The centrepiece of Es Canar is its main beach, a wide expanse of golden sand stretching over 300 metres along a sheltered bay. The crystal-clear waters and gently sloping seabed make it perfect for families with children. The beach is well equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas and numerous facilities, while the promenade features a pleasant promenade dotted with bars and restaurants.

The Punta Arabí hippy market is one of the area’s most popular attractions. Active every Wednesday during the tourist season, it is the oldest and largest open-air market on the island. Here you can find handicrafts, clothing, jewellery and objets d’art, in an atmosphere reminiscent of the bohemian spirit of Ibiza.

Boat trips depart from the small marina to explore the coast and the nearby coves. It is also possible to rent small boats or practice water sports such as windsurfing and water skiing. During the summer season, a ferry service regularly connects Es Canar with other resorts on the island and with Formentera.

A short walk from the main beach is the picturesque Cala Nova, one of the few beaches on the island where sufficient waves for surfing can be found. This wilder and more natural beach offers a completely different ambience than the neighbouring Es Canar, with its lively waters and more unspoilt landscape.

The coastal path from Es Canar provides pleasant scenic walks, linking the resort with neighbouring Cala Nova and Cala Martina. This route offers beautiful views of the coastline and the possibility of discovering small hidden coves only accessible on foot.

How to get to Es Canar

Es Canar is easily accessible from Ibiza Airport, from which it is about 25 kilometres away. The journey by taxi or hire car takes about 30 minutes. During the tourist season, an efficient bus service regularly connects Es Canar with Santa Eulària and Ibiza town. From the marina, ferries connect the resort with other points on the island and with Formentera.
