The small tourist village and beach of Cala Vadella are located along the south-western coast of the island, within a picturesque and protected bay between Cala Moli and Cala Carbo, a 10-minute drive from Sant Josep de sa Talaia and 22 kilometres from Ibiza Town.
Almost 300 metres long and 40 metres wide, the crescent-shaped beach of fine white sand lies within a closed bay protected from currents. The village spread over the surrounding hills is worth a walk to enjoy the beautiful panoramic views of the bay. Beachside restaurants and panoramic terraces offer perfect locations to admire the spectacular sunsets for which the west coast of Ibiza is famous.
Popular with families and couples, Cala Vadella offers the opportunity to enjoy numerous water sports. On the left side of the beach are several small caves ideal for snorkelling enthusiasts.
The beach is also served by a free guarded car park. Just before reaching the village of Cala Vadella, stop at the small belvedere on your right and take some spectacular photos.
The main beach is the heart of the bay, with about 275 metres of fine sand sloping gently into crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming. The particular shape of the cove, which runs deep into the coast, creates a naturally sheltered environment ideal for families with children. The waters are always calm and the depth gradually increases, making swimming safe for all ages.
The picturesque marina hosts a mix of traditional fishing boats and small pleasure craft, adding a touch of authenticity to the landscape. During the summer season, small boats or kayaks can be hired to explore the coast and discover hidden coves only accessible by sea.
The side reefs of the bay offer excellent snorkelling opportunities, with crystal-clear waters that allow one to observe a variety of marine life. The area is particularly appreciated for its rocky seabed full of small caves and ravines that create interesting habitats for various species of Mediterranean fish.
Cala Vadella is located on the west coast of Ibiza, about 35 minutes’ drive from Eivissa. To get there from the island’s capital, you need to take the EI-700 road and then continue after Sant Josep de sa Talaia along the PMV-803-1 to your destination. In all, the distance to cover is 25 kilometres, which is reduced to 7 if your starting point is Sant Josep de sa Talaia.
In the immediate surroundings of Cala Vadella, also overlooking the beach, there are several houses and villas, naturally for the exclusive use of tourists during the summer. You will also find a small two-star hotel about 40 metres from the sea, and a couple of aparthotel-style solutions.
Cala Vadella is indeed in a very good location in Ibiza, and a small urbanisation has developed behind it, so you will have no difficulty in finding a solution for sleeping close to the beach.
