Surrounded by pine forests, Cala Salada is a striking coarse sandy beach, bathed by crystal-clear, calm waters and embraced by sun-baked stone slabs. It is popular with Ibiza residents and boat owners alike. On the left-hand edge of the bay, a rocky promontory separates it from the adjoining sandy beach of Cala Saladita, which can be reached on foot along a picturesque path.
The beach is very small – it is only 80 metres long and less than twenty metres wide – and in the summer months it can be crowded, with tourists taking advantage of the rocks at the sides of the beach to find a corner where they can lay their towel. The waters are calm and clear, ideal for swimming or snorkelling. There is no need to bring food: the beach restaurant serves excellent paella and is very popular with the islanders!
Cala Salada is one of Ibiza’s closest coves to San Antonio, from which it is only a few minutes away. To get there, you will have to exit the town heading north along the PM-812 – Camì Cala Salada road. The beach can also be reached by water taxi departing from the port of San Antonio.
To get there from Eivissa, you will first have to arrive in San Antonio, then head north as mentioned above. The total distance is 20 kilometres, with a journey time of around 25-30 minutes.
Cala Salada is located in an unspoilt position on the west coast of Ibiza, and therefore in the immediate vicinity of the beach there are no facilities where one can sleep. However, behind it, when the road has already climbed the surrounding hills, you will find some beautiful villas with swimming pools for rent.
Moving southwards you will then approach the town of San Antonio, where you will be spoilt for choice, with beautiful villas outside the centre and hotels with all the comforts as you approach the town centre.
