Cala Comte (also known as Cala Conta or Platges de Comte) is universally recognised as one of Ibiza’s most spectacular beaches, famous for its breathtaking sunsets and waters of incredible colours ranging from turquoise to deep blue. This natural wonder, located along the west coast of the island just past Cala Bassa, is composed of several small coves that follow one another, each with its own distinctive character, creating a coastal landscape of extraordinary beauty.

The charm of Cala Comte lies in its wild and unspoilt nature, despite the presence of modern amenities and facilities well integrated into the landscape. The rock formations separating the different coves create unique scenery, while the crystal-clear sea offers one of the cleanest and most transparent waters on the island.

The golden sandy beach, 800 metres long and up to 30 metres wide, is equipped and has excellent bars and restaurants. In reality, Cala Comte consists of three beaches: the two main ones are separated by a jetty where various DJs perform in the evenings, while the smaller one, reached by steps carved into the rock in the eastern part of the bay, is used by naturists.

The beach has shallow waters that make it safe even for children.

Things to do in Cala Comte

The beauty of Cala Comte is revealed through various natural elements and structures that have enhanced its unique character.

The Beaches of Cala Comte

The coastal area is characterised by several small coves with distinct features. The main beach offers a wide expanse of fine golden sand, while the more reserved side coves are interspersed with picturesque rock formations. The waters are generally calm and clear, although they can become choppier on windy days, creating a fascinating natural spectacle.

The seabed slopes gently for the first few metres, then suddenly becomes deeper, creating a wonderful play of colours in the water. This characteristic makes it suitable both for families with children (in the areas closest to the shore) and for those who enjoy swimming in deeper water.

Sunset Ashram

The Sunset Ashram has become an icon of Cala Comte. This restaurant and beach club, perfectly integrated into the rock, offers one of the most spectacular locations on the island to watch the sunset. It combines Mediterranean architecture and Balinese influences, creating a unique atmosphere where one can enjoy excellent food with unparalleled views of the sea and the islands of Es Bosc and Sa Conillera.

Rock Formations and Viewpoints

The cliffs and promontories surrounding the coves offer privileged vantage points. Nature trails winding among the rocks allow you to discover hidden corners and spectacular viewpoints, particularly impressive during sunset. These areas are perfect for photography and enjoying quiet moments away from the main beach.

Snorkelling Area

The crystal-clear waters and rocky seabed create the ideal environment for snorkelling. The rich marine life and underwater formations provide a fascinating spectacle for fans of this activity. The areas between the rocks are particularly interesting for observing different species of Mediterranean fish in their natural habitat.

Where to stay in Cala Comte

Cala Comte is located in an isolated position on the north-western tip of Ibiza, and there are no facilities for sleeping in its vicinity. One kilometre further south is the famous 7Pines, a luxury hotel of the Hyatt chain, while inland you will find some excellent villas and flats.

The most densely populated area of hotels near Cala Comte, however, is the one that runs about 3-4 kilometres to the east, which then leads to San Antonio. Here you will find plenty of hotels, flats, villas and everything else for an excellent stay.
