Would you like to know what the weather will be like on Formentera during your holiday? On this page you will find a small guide to Formentera’s climate and the weather forecast for the next 5 days.
As its vegetation shows, Formentera is blessed with a typical Mediterranean climate thanks to which winters are mild and summers are warm and sunny.
Summer days can be sultry, but are made bearable by breezes. It should be remembered that the Balearic Islands are rather windy, and if elsewhere the strong wind can be annoying on Formentera this is not the case because the island is well sheltered. The wind is therefore welcome here!
Average temperatures in January are 15 degrees (8 the lowest), while in July and August the thermometer regularly reaches 29 degrees or more.
In summer it hardly ever rains because the rainfall in Formentera follows a Mediterranean pattern, i.e. it is more frequent in autumn and winter, mainly due to Atlantic disturbances, and decreases with the arrival of spring until it almost disappears altogether in July and August. October is generally the wettest month.
Formentera: swimming all year round?
Formentera and the Balearic Islands in general are known as the islands of eternal spring because of their mild temperatures. Although this is true, it must also be added that bathing is not possible all year round.
Formentera’s winter is indeed quite mild, but unfortunately not mild enough for bathing. Even in spring, although the temperatures are very good, it may not be possible to bathe because the temperature of the sea water is still cold.
Generally, the sea water is warmer in September than in May, but at this time the days begin to shorten and from the middle of the month Atlantic disturbances begin.
Autumn and winter are ideal seasons for an escape from the cold, dedicating the holiday to nature and culture instead of the beach.
The hottest months of the year in Weather Formentera are July and August, when the monthly average temperature reaches 31 °C, while the coldest months of December, January and February the thermometer drops up to 8 °C.
