Famous for its small, white sandy beach lined with trendy bars and restaurants, Es Pujols is Formentera ‘s only real tourist resort and is located in the north-eastern part of the island near the Estany Pudent salt lake and some of the island’s most renowned beaches.
In front of the 300-metre-long and 30-metre-wide beach of Es Pujols, a number of small, magnificent islets can be seen, making the setting even more exceptional.
The maze of narrow streets that criss-cross the village, once a quiet fishing village, are animated by a lively nightlife. Es Pujols is also home to a small discotheque, Xueno, the only one on Formentera, a far cry from the Pacha or Amnesia discotheques on Ibiza.

The main beach of Es Pujols is a natural jewel that stretches for over a kilometre along Formentera’s east coast. The beach is well equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds for hire, but retains large free stretches for those who prefer a more natural setting. The chiringuitos on the beach offer refreshments and typical dishes, making it possible to spend entire days relaxing without leaving the sea.
A short distance from the centre are the salt pans, a unique ecosystem that is home to a rich variety of migratory birds, including pink flamingos. A nature trail allows visitors to explore this protected area, particularly impressive at sunset when the sun dyes the salt pans pink.
The salt pans have played a fundamental role in the economic history of the island and today represent an important natural and cultural heritage. Guided tours available in high season allow visitors to learn more about this particular ecosystem.
Es Pujols is a resort focused on tourism, so there are many well-distributed places to sleep. To reach Es Pujols from the port of Formentera you will have to drive about 6 kilometres: leave La Savina heading east along the PM-820-2 road, which circumnavigates the Estany Pudent in a clockwise direction, and after about half a turn, without you having to make any detours, you will find the Es Pujols sign directly. From here, getting to the centre is a matter of a few hundred metres.
