Caminito del Rey

The Caminito del Rey, or ‘King’s Path’, is one of the most exciting hikes to be made in Andalusia. It is located in El Chorro, near Alora in the province of Malaga, and is a footpath about 3 kilometres long suspended in the air, up to 100 metres high, on vertical walls and ramps barely a metre wide. Reopened in 2015 after years of restoration and safety work, it was originally a path used by workers to access the hydroelectric power plants located in the area. Today, over 100 years later, it is one of the most interesting and incredible things to see in Andalusia, giving you an adrenaline rush like little else.

To walk the Caminito del Rey you only have one option: from north to south. Along the way, you will enjoy splendid views of the river below and the mountains that embrace it. It must be said that the current path is not the original one, but has been reconstructed slightly higher up. In some sections, the glass floor will give you even more adrenalin, giving you the chance to look down without risking anything.
